The Theatre has a capacity of 956 if all areas are open. This includes the dance floor, balcony, bar area & "Other Side" area. For "Listening Room" style shows, we have the capability to do 600 seated.

Seating Policy: Depending on the show, we will sell tickets in the following ways: 1. General Admission and seats will be available on a first come first serve basis, so if you want a good seat, please make sure to get here early; 2. Seat Guaranteed Tickets which means that we will have a seat for you & the show is 100% seated, but where it is depends upon what time you get here to reserve it . Please check the individual show information for the type of ticketing available. We do not reserve seats in advance, nor do we sell tickets based on seat numbers. All events are General Admission on a first come basis through the door. You choose & reserve your seat once you enter the Theatre. Door & show times are listed under each event and vary depending on the event listed. Please go to our photo page to get a visual by what we mean with "dance floor will be open". What this means is that we have an area in front of the stage that either gets portable chairs for the "listening room" shows or no chairs for the more upbeat dancing shows. If a show lists "main hall floor open", this means that there will be no seats in the main hall. We have made many changes in the theatre over the years and one of them is that all seats are portable, this gives us the ability to have 100% standing shows as well as 100% seated shows. If you have any question or concerns about a specific event capacity, seating arrangement or ticketing, please call our venue Box Office at (704) 358-9298 or email melton@neighborhoodtheatre.com . All sales final, no refunds.

Shows are all ages unless otherwise noted.

Making their Neighborhood Theatre debut, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, this high energy Americana rock band is sure to get your feet moving. Fronted by Roger Clyne with drummer P.H. Naffah, lead guitarist Jim Dalton and bassist Nick Scropos, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers are the only independent band to debut in the Top 10 on Billboard's Internet Sales chart for six consecutive albums, including two #1 entries. Clyne & Naffah enjoyed an accomplished stint with The Refreshments, the late-90s rock band whose cult-classic album Fizzy Fuzzy, Big & Buzzy produced the hit singles "Banditos" and "Down Together." Clyne wrote and performed with The Refreshments the theme song for the hit cartoon King of the Hill.

Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers stepped up to the plate in 2007 when the Arizona Diamondbacks, the bands hometown World Series Champion Major League Baseball team, when they were called on to write a rockin' Dbacks theme song. The "Dbacks Swing" is a homerun with Diamondbacks fans everywhere.

Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers (RCPM) are proof that the crazy, reckless, restless, swaggering soul of American rock is still burning a hole in the night sky...guitars blaze, quake and quiver, drums slip, thud and thunder with killer melodies and hooks and the occasional reggae or mariachi rhythm laced through the middle to keep it all honest and interesting.

***FREE Music Night***

A thundering 9-piece ensemble from Asheville, NC, Afromotive is escorting Afrobeat music into the modern age and taking the dance floor with them. Fueled by a powerful three-piece horn section and an unstoppable rhythm section, The Afromotive's musical dance excursions are steered by bandleader Kevin Meyame. Originally from Cote D'Ivoire, West Africa, Kevin has performed throughout West Africa and France with drum and dance troupe Tanably. He moved to Asheville, NC in 2004 to perform as lead dancer with Ballet Warraba, and as fate would have it, founded the musical collaboration that is the Afromotive. Singing in French, English, and his native language of Baoule, as well as providing polyrhythms on djembe, Kevin adds an authentically African flavor to their nu-afrobeat sound. The combination of Kevin's cultural and musical background and the jazz and classically trained musicians of the Afromotive has created a synthesized sound that crosses musical and ethnic boundaries.

Inveterate storyteller Paul Thorn credits his gift of gab to being the son of a Pentecostal preacher. "You get to know how to get along with almost everybody. You just have to sit down and start getting to know one another." Thorn has a lot about himself to tell. One would expect to hear great stories from a guy who boxed Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran on national television, made chairs for a living, skydives for fun, had his first singing gig at age three, and who happens to be one of the South's finest songwriters. Paul Thorn doesn't disappoint.Thorn started down his music path when he was not long out of diapers. "As a child, I sang in churches. My first paying gig was at a revival with my father when everybody came around and put money in my tambourine. After the service, there was a little girl, also about three years old, who I had a crush on. I stuffed the money I got all down in my pockets. After the service we sat around the back of the church and I bought her a Coke with the money I'd earned. That was my first paying gig, and I guess my first date." Thorn writes and performs songs taken from life - good times, bad times, and everything in between. His songs are often constructed on the universal themes of love, loss, and yearning. But far from ever sounding commonplace, Thorn is able to weave in a slightly loopy Southern sense of the unexpected that draws you in and never lets go. It's a concert/party you won't want to miss!

Come in from the summer heat and enjoy the cool sounds of Songs of Water. This North Carolina based band takes the stage here at The Neighborhood Theatre for the first time.

Songs of Water has emerged from the South East with a sound both ancient and modern in an inventive fusion. This six piece sextet, composed primarily of instrumental music, harbors a wide variety of cultural and stylistic influences. The uncommon use of the Appalachian folk instrument, the hammered dulcimer, melodically leads many of the groups pieces, followed by the resonance of various acoustic instruments and a brooding foundation of heavy percussion. Combining Band Leader, Stephen Roachs world music influence with the classical background of violinist Marta Richardson, the Spanish infused guitar of co-founder Jason Windsor, and multi-instrumentation of Greg Willette, Luke Skaggs and Michael Pritchard, Songs of Water creates a unique sound that reaches beyond the common mileu.

Don't miss our most(customer)requested artist - Sam Bush. Sam's a legend in his own right, as the founder of New Grass Revival. He has kept busy recording & playing w/ Bela Fleck, Emmylou Harris, Linda Rondstadt, Lyle Lovette & more. Though Bush is most often known as a mandolinist, he's also a champion fiddler and on two tracks he pays tribute to two violinists who helped push his fiddle playing into the rock arena when he was a youngster. On the rock classic "White Bird", Bush and Andrea Zonn update violinist David LaFlamme's enduring composition, both vocally and in a soaring violin arrangement that expands and improves on the original. Sam Bush's ability to be continually touched and amazed by new music may be the quality that makes him such a successful and virtuosic performer and band leader. He helped create newgrass music almost 35 years ago, but Laps in Seven is evidence that hes still as vital a presence on the acoustic music scene as ever: still making new sounds, still rockin out on great songs, and still pushing the bar higher for the legions of his protgs, fans and friends.

Neighborhood Theatre favorite returns after touring most of the northeast & southeast, we are happy to them playing here at home and look forward to their high energy roots rock with a flare of folk-americana they do so well.

A new musical combo has been touring the east coast playing honest, folk-infused rock and roll. Known as The New Familiars, these five gentlemen combine an amazing passion for harmony and collaborative songwriting with multi-instrumental talent.

Currently touring in support of their six-song EP 'The Storm' and a 7" vinyl (featuring their original tune 'Mill's River' with a re-interpretation of Smokey Robinson's classic 'My Girl'), they've roared onto the east coast music scene with a rigorous tour schedule. Drawing raucous club crowds from Boston to Tuscaloosa while shining bright on the festival circuit, they've built a reputation for their live, energetic and ever-evolving performances.

The band has constantly stretched the boundaries of 'genre labels' by playing their blend of folk-infused rock'n'roll. Since their debut in late 2006, they've built a sound based upon their balance of traditional and modern instruments which takes listeners from the back porches of appalachia to the floors of underground rock clubs.

Well raise up our tent in any town that will have us. declares the new studio album by San Franciscos Tea Leaf Green. Produced by David Lowery (Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven, Counting Crows), the album presents eleven, well-crafted songs that tempt the listener to set off on the archetypal American adventure. In times past, you could run away and join the circus or ride the freight trains, and Tea Leaf Green offers the same seductive pull to todays kids. Sharing some of the style and substance of musical contemporaries My Morning Jacket, Wolfmother, and the Raconteurs, Tea Leaf Green conjures the spirit of bands like 70s Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and The Grateful Dead, taking classic sounds and giving them a present-day polish. Tea Leaf Green reminds us at every turn just how alluring rock n roll can be. Tea Leaf Green consistently delivers mind bending live performances to their loyal and ever-growing fan base. Nightly, the band explores the depths of their prodigious songbook, taking everyone along for an exhilarating ride. In a few short years, these road warriors have built a strong following, consistently filling venues across the country and becoming a warmly received, go-to band on the festival circuit with stand-out performances at Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, 10K Lakes, and The Echo Project, among others. The bands chops earned the respect of their contemporaries and they have shared the stage with The Dave Matthews Band, Trey Anastasio, Govt Mule, Bruce Hornsby, John Popper, Bob Weir, Sean Lennon and many others. Experience Tea Leaf Green for yourself...and enjoy the journey.

Toubab Krewe's strong Malian flavor is peppered with tastes of Caribbean, Jamaican, and, as the band puts it, "dirty south" music. Most of the band members' roots are in Asheville, North Carolina, and their southern neighbors often confuse the harp-like ngoni and kora for a banjo. Yet, Toubab Krewe's Teal Brown, Drew Heller, Justin Perkins, David Pransky, and Luke Quaranta emanate the energetic spirit that is an essential element of the dance music in Africa. Toubab Krewe's name is, in fact, a stellar reflection of their multicultural musical interests. The word "toubab" means "white people" or "foreigners" in the Malinke and Bambara languages and is used in a non-derogatory way to refer to white people all over West Africa. The spelling of "Krewe" references New Orleans, which Brown says is "because New Orleans is the gateway through which so much music came to us--ragtime, blues, jazz. It's a reference to that portal." The band has spent extensive time in West Africa studying and performing with musical legends such as Lamine Soumano, Vieux Kante, Madou Dembele, and Koungbanan Conde. Thus, their use of traditional instruments like the soku, kamel ngoni, and kora, is not only professional and informed, but inspired and natural, as well.

Marty Stuart is making the best music of his life. In front of his band, the Fabulous Superlatives, a name that sounded less and less like hyperbole with each show. His show is full of terrific original songs, but periodically he plays a touchstone of country music history, beginning with the bluegrass of In the Pines continuing through the Bakersfield honky-tonk of Buckaroo and climaxing with the gospel original, Its Time To Go Home As he shifts gears through all these styles and more, Stuart never loses momentum. Marty Stuart is on fire creatively. He has recorded the four best albums of his career with his band, the Fabulous Superlatives, and has put on some of the best shows of his career. But he will be the first to tell you that his current achievements would never have been possible if he hadnt walked every single mile of the highway that got him here. And he never would have made it if not for the mentors who showed the way and the partners who walked beside him. Those are his Compadres, and his story cant be told without them.
The 15 tracks on his new album, Compadres," tell that story. It would be a mistake to call it a duets album," for the instrumental interplay with Lester Flatt, Steve Earle and the Old Crow Medicine Show is as important as the vocal give and take with Johnny Cash and Mavis Staples. Its an album of collaborations with the artists who have meant the most to him over the years.

Over the past five years Railroad Earth has carved a path wide and deep throughout the American roots music scene. Right from their first gigs in May 2001, to their most recent shows for their legion of loyal fans, Railroad Earth has been an undeniable force whose superb songwriting, singing and performances from the stage have made them one of the most talked about bands to arrive in years. It could be said that Railroad Earth hit the scene with their wheels already rolling. Just three weeks after the six band members jammed together for the very first time, they went into a local recording studio and laid down five songs, recorded live with no overdubs except backing vocals. It was that remarkable demo that set everything in motion. Within a week they had a manager on board who then sent their demo out to some of the country’s most prestigious festivals. There wasn’t even a promo photo of the band. Yet, on the strength of that demo alone, they landed a slot on the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. That was their tenth gig. With nearly 400 shows and tens of thousands of road miles now behind them, Railroad Earth has become a staple on the national touring and festival scene, and built a huge following of loyal fans that document and trade every note they play, and often join them on the road for multiple nights. These fans call themselves “Hobos,” and the band considers them to be the fuel that keeps this engine chugging along. This time around Railroad Earth will be on the Main Stage and we will have the dance floor open for all of you that want to shake it!!!

WAR comes to the Neighborhood Theatre! We've all been touched by WAR's music at one time or another. In 1975 when the Russians and Americans hooked up together in space NASA played "Why Can't We Be Friends?.

WAR: What is it good for? Just the most memorable hits of all time, including "Cisco Kid", "Low Rider", "Why Can't We Be Friends", "Slippin' into Darkness", and "The World is a Ghetto".

WAR has just been nominated for induction into the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. War recorded a sold-out performance at The Grove in Anaheim , California . Now with their first release in 14 years, titled Greatest Hits Live, these three definitive sets will ensure the band's continuing status as part of the collective consciousness of American popular culture.
