Hard-rocking blues-soaked guitarist/vocalist/song-writer Tinsley Ellis sings and plays with the energy and soul of all the great Southern musicians who have come before him. Ellis attacks his music with rock power and blues feeling, following in the tradition of Deep South musical heroes Duane Allman, Freddie King, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. His live shows feature extended fretwork filled with melodic and rhythmic experimentation, in the spirit of jam bands like his friends Widespread Panic and The Allman Brothers. Atlanta Magazine declared Ellis "the most significant blues artist to emerge from Atlanta since Blind Willie McTell," Since first hitting the national scene with his Alligator Records debut, GEORGIA BLUE in 1988, Ellis has toured non-stop and continued to release one critically acclaimed album after another. His stellar guitar work, always a staple of his live shows and CDs, is matched by his strong songwriting and powerful, soulful vocals. Tinsley's hometown paper, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, calls his music, "a potent, amazing trip through electric blues-rock."

From busking in the streets of Nashville to headlining the historic Ryman Auditorium, Old Crow Medicine Show (OCMS) have come full circle playing their own brand of American roots music with a rock and roll attitude. The quintet met in New York state and hit the road, traveling city to city in a van and eventually settling for a year in North Carolina, where they ran into a bit of good fortune while playing in front of a local pharmacy to an impressed Doc Watson; the folk icon promptly scheduled the band to play at his MerleFest.

Soon after, OCMS relocated to Nashville and found themselves gracing the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, opening for Dolly Parton, touring with Merle Haggard and regularly appearing on NPRs A Prairie Home Companion. They caught the attention of Nettwerk Records in 2003 and signed on to release their debut album O.C.M.S, which they recorded at RCAs legendary Studio B and Woodland Sound Studio with producer/guitarist David Rawlings (Gillian Welch, Robyn Hitchcock) at the helm. O.C.M.S was released in 2004 to critical acclaim; the New Yorker said of the album, Heartbreaking, plunky ballads and unfastened fiddle tunes charged with youthful vigor, while the Village Voice predicted, Fame will soon lift her skirt for the band.

Marc Broussard was seemingly destined for a life as a music man. As the son of Boogie Kings guitarist (and Louisiana Hall of Fame member) Ted Broussard, his upbringing in Lafayette, La., instilled in him an affinity for R&B alongside the Cajun trappings of southern Louisiana. He draws vocal and stylistic influence from Otis Redding and Brian McKnight while bearing the preternaturally gruff voice of John Hiatt or Dr. John.

Buschovski is Todd Busch and a band of musicians inexplicably capable of bringing his artistic vision to life. The main players are Todd himself (piano/guitar/vocals), Pete (guitar/vocals), DK (drums/percussion/vocals), and Shawn Lynch (bass/vocals). Their sound is further completed by Nicolette Emanuelle (cello), Brent Dunn (cello), Ben Kennedy (violin), and Brent Bagwell (clarinet, sax). Todd Busch has been performing in and around the Charlotte area since the early 1990s. He is a self-taught musician who takes the complexity of emotion and imagination and turns them into orchestral pop gems of the highest order. Whether exposing mans ugly shortcomings, illuminating human triumph or looking to the supernatural for inspiration, his music touches on a romanticism and rawness that draws the listener in. Buschovski does not stick to one genre and resists easy classification. Influences include Chopin, Scott Walker, and all kinds of music, traditional and modern, from all over the world.

Blue Dogs were formed in Charleston, SC, in 1987 by lead singer/guitarist Bobby Houck and bassist Hank Futch, who had known each other since childhood and played together in college. Drummer Greg Walker came along later, joining the band in 1993. At first, the Blue Dogs were acoustic-oriented and played a lot of bluegrass and country covers. But in the early '90s, they went electric and shifted their focus to roots rock, country-rock, and Southern rock; the artists who have influenced the electric version of the Blue Dogs range from the Wallflowers and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers to Little Feat and John Cougar Mellencamp. The Blue Dogs' first album came out in 1991, when they released Music for Dog People on their own Black River label. That album was followed by 1993's Soul Dogfood and 1995's Street Theater, both of which are also on Black River. While those three releases were full of cover songs, the Blue Dogs' fourth album, The Blue Dogs (which was produced by John Alagia and came out in 1997) marked the first time that one of their albums contained nothing but original material. In 1998, the band recorded its fifth album, For the Record, a live CD that was followed by a studio effort titled Letters From Round O (which was produced by Cracker's David Lowery in 1999). The Blue Dogs' seventh release, Live at the Florence Little Theater, was recorded in 1998 but didn't actually come out until 2002. For the Blue Dogs, personnel can change from one album to the next; a Blue Dogs album (either live or studio) will typically include core members along with what could be called an extended family of fellow Southern musicians.

Inveterate storyteller Paul Thorn credits his gift of gab to being the son of a Pentecostal preacher. "You get to know how to get along with almost everybody. You just have to sit down and start getting to know one another." Thorn has a lot about himself to tell. One would expect to hear great stories from a guy who boxed Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran on national television, made chairs for a living, skydives for fun, had his first singing gig at age three, and who happens to be one of the South's finest songwriters. Paul Thorn doesn't disappoint.Thorn started down his music path when he was not long out of diapers. "As a child, I sang in churches. My first paying gig was at a revival with my father when everybody came around and put money in my tambourine. After the service, there was a little girl, also about three years old, who I had a crush on. I stuffed the money I got all down in my pockets. After the service we sat around the back of the church and I bought her a Coke with the money I'd earned. That was my first paying gig, and I guess my first date." Thorn writes and performs songs taken from life - good times, bad times, and everything in between. His songs are often constructed on the universal themes of love, loss, and yearning. But far from ever sounding commonplace, Thorn is able to weave in a slightly loopy Southern sense of the unexpected that draws you in and never lets go. It's a concert/party you won't want to miss!

"When I was a kid, I was a listener," says Clarence Greenwood, a.k.a. Citizen Cope. "Music was something coming out of a radio or off a record, something that made me feel these things I couldn't explain. It was magical to me, and I thought it was something you had to be ordained with." What's clear when you listen to Cope's own music now, years after he sat transfixed in front of his stereo speakers, is that he *is* ordained. Or touched. Or blessed. Or however you want to say it: The man has the gift. It's never been more evident as on "Every Waking Moment," his third album (second release for RCA). By far his most personal recording, "Every Waking Moment" shows Cope continuing his deep exploration of the world that confronts all of us every day. How do we love those we care about? How do we change a world that throws daily horrors in our faces? How do we live with ourselves day after day? How do we capture joy? If you've heard any of the work that Cope has created over the past few years, you already know how quickly he can paint a masterpiece with the lightest of brushstrokes and how he captures a character in just a few words.

Giving homage in a continually evolving artistic outlet, the Dark Star Orchestra recreates historic Grateful Dead set lists with compelling accuracy. Each night, the Chicago-based band decides on performing one show from the over 2,500 that the Grateful Dead originally performed during their 30 year tenure as fathers of improvisational rock.

Dark Star Orchestra presents the complete original set list, song by song, and in order, with uncanny faithful interpretation. To date, DSO has covered more than 1,300 different Grateful Dead shows.

At the end of every performance, the band announces the date and venue where the original show just covered took place. Dark Star Orchestra dips into every incarnation of the Dead, so most fans can "see" shows that happened long before they were born.
